One could say that provided the turbulences our old continent and even the whole world is experiencing at present, this is a an strange affirmation.

You will not have missed last summer which witnessed the higher price cotton fibre has ever reached - on the one hand because of a fibre shortage but on the other hand largely because of the attractiveness of the "cotton as an investment" for speculators of all sorts. Its price has for a few weeks started to decrease again. Let's not be happy too fast as cotton fibre's price is still more than double of what it was 12 months ago.

The market has been waiting during the last months. Stocks of cotton bought at a time where shortage was a sure thing are slowly being sold. Everyone is scrutinising the cotton index every morning during breakfast to try and guess when the price is actually going to decrease for good. All of this doesn't take into account our planet's changes and the needs of the Chinese. Indeed, it's been a few days since you can watch flooding in Pakistan and since we hear about China being out again intensively buying tons of cotton on the world market.

It's precisely the reason why our industrial partners have taken major decisions and invested (for several years in fact) in new materials. They have been woven, knitted, washed, tested and have led to the birth of revolutionary products which should keep you from the raw materials' price uncertainty.

These materials have been eco-created and emphasize sustainable development, protection of our planet and environment but also recycling.

They have been presented officially during the A+A show from the 18th to the 21st of October 2011 with an incredible interest shown.

I was telling you at the beginning of this editorial, we are living in a wonderful world! It is during these structural changes in our economical & social environment, which fundamentally change our future and question everything we took for granted, that we know how to look for and find the innovative technical solutions for today and tomorrow.
